One of Grand Marais' most eye-catching gems is the Beaver House... or House of Beaver, I suppose. With a ten foot walleye jammed through the south-eastern corner of the building, a graveyard of iceboxes in the back & a giant sign advertising the "Beaver Flicks" that await inside, it visually punches you in the face. Upon taking our first step into the world renown House of Beaver, our eyes didn't know what to settle on first. There were literally thousands of lures displayed, stashed, or stored in the all too cramped space. The House specialty is of course their famous Beaver Flicks, which the owner guaranteed would land us a fish- no doubt. After a whole bunch of Beaver talk, we left with an assortment of Blaze Orange, Florescent Pink & Highlighter Yellow hand-made lures with a funny name. Sadly, in April (which is when we took this trip), all the lakes were frozen & rivers volatile; so we couldn't put these B.Flicks to the test quite yet.
